Creating Cultural Moments at the Windup Watch Shop’s Brooklyn Showroom
In December 2024, the Worn & Wound team set out to transform our Brooklyn headquarters into more than just a hub for our business. We wanted a hands-on showroom for watches and gear—a place where enthusiasts could get hands-on, ask questions, and connect with the brands we love. If you’ve read about our build-out, you’ll know it was a labor of love that blended retail, community, and culture into one space.
Fast forward just nine months, and the vision has evolved even further. After hosting several in-showroom gatherings, from panel discussions to product launches, we found ourselves rethinking the space yet again. This time, we added something unexpected: a screening room with seating for 40.
That’s how this past Tuesday night, an expanded Windup Watch Shop Showroom became a mini movie theater for the first time. We hosted the premiere screening of Giles, a documentary short that follows the intricate process of building a watch from scratch right here in Brooklyn. The result? A standing-room-only crowd and an energy that felt more like a cultural happening than a standard watch meetup.
After the credits rolled, we kept the momentum going with a live Q&A featuring the film’s director and Giles Clement himself, the subject of the documentary. The conversation gave guests a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and the artistry of Clement’s craft—the kind of intimate exchange that can’t be replicated online.
Why This Matters for Brands
The Giles screening proved that our showroom is more than just a place to display watches. It’s a venue that can flex to fit a brand’s story—whether that’s through a film premiere, a hands-on workshop, a panel discussion, a live podcast record, or something we haven’t even imagined yet. The blend of intimate scale, premium location in Brooklyn, and a built-in community of engaged watch and gear enthusiasts makes it a unique stage for cultural moments.
If you’re a brand looking to do more than just showcase a product and you want to create an experience that resonates, sparks conversation, and maybe even makes history in our little corner of the watch world… we’d love to talk. The space is here. The audience is ready. The only question is: what story do you want to tell?
